We are looking for a skilled Technical Engineering Lead to drive the development of our backend systems while mentoring a talented team of developers. This is a hands-on role, where technical expertise comes first: you will spend the majority of your time coding and contributing directly to the product, with a smaller portion dedicated to leading and supporting the team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems and APIs.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a small team of developers, fostering growth and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in technical planning, code reviews, and architecture decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
  • Contribute to both day-to-day development tasks and long-term strategic initiatives.

Technical Stack:

  • Frontend: Svelte.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS
  • Backend: Node.js, Postgres
  • Cloud: AWS
  • Related Technologies: Python, C/C++, Rust, Linux, WebAssembly (future)
  • Tools: Git, Linear, Atlassian stack (for source control and management)

Requirements

  • 8+ years of backend development experience (Node.js, JavaScript, or similar technologies).
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring a development team.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with databases, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
