AI-Driven Engineering Manager / Tech Lead

We are looking for a highly experienced, hands-on Engineering Manager/Technical Lead who is passionate about technology and AI, and still enjoys coding. They should understand modern software architecture and collaborate with AI tools as they would with their best engineering team members.

This is NOT a traditional / people-management role. (With a dream team of tech enthusiasts, unnecessary management and “babysitting” is minimised anyway. Focus is on productivity, honing skills, and results.)

Instead, you will design solutions, break down problems, and instruct AI systems to build, refactor, and solve tasks at scale, as you collaborate closely with other engineering managers and tech lead-level seniors, in a fast-paced, deeply technical, and extremely experienced environment.

1. Design AI-Friendly Solutions

• Create simple, scalable architectures and clean structures that AI can extend.
• Apply modern engineering practices and iterate until the solution fits all product needs.

2. Work Directly With AI as Your “Development Team.”

• Convert engineering goals into clear instructions for AI tools.
• Guide, review, and optimize AI-generated code for quality and performance.

3. Stay Hands-On and Technically Strong

• Participate in architecture, code reviews, debugging, and experimentation with new AI workflows.
• Expand and deepen technical knowledge of backend systems, cloud, databases, and architecture.

4. Collaborate With Senior Engineers

• Work closely with experienced engineering managers/tech leads.
• Brainstorm, peer-review, and grow through collaboration with top-tier peers.

5. Shape the Future of Engineering

• Contribute to a new AI-driven development model.
• Establish best practices and influence product and architectural decisions.

Technical Stack:

• Frontend: Svelte.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS
• Backend: Node.js, Postgres, q/kdb
• Cloud: AWS

• 8–10+ years of engineering experience (backend, full-stack, or architecture).
• Strong technical background; still hands-on and comfortable reading/writing code.
• Experience designing scalable systems and thinking in terms of product architecture.
• Ability to think in mental models, break down problems, and envision end-to-end solutions.
• Excited about using AI tools daily and treating them as an engineering force.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and product-sense abilities.
• Enjoy working with equally senior/experienced/talented peers.
